10 Beauty Tricks That You Are Guaranteed Not to Have Known

We interviewed five leading experts in the hair, make-up and care sector - and asked them for tips that they had never given to anyone before. Because even if "drinking a lot of water" is a valuable piece of advice: nobody alone has made it more beautiful ...

Maintenance

1. Drink - but right!

"I drink half a liter of hot water every morning," reveals Miriam Jacks , "National Make-up Artist" at L'Oréal Paris and owner of the beauty concept store " Jacks Beauty Department " in Berlin. "This stimulates the metabolism and ensures beautiful, fresh skin." She knows the trick from Ayurveda healing teaching: by boiling and briefly standing, the water is enriched with ions that promote detoxification.

2. Get to the potato!

Beauty expert Miriam Jacks swears by potato masks against dark circles and swellings. "I cut a cold, raw potato in half and put it on the eyes for a few minutes." The body's enzyme catalase, which is also produced by the potato, removes water retention and at the same time provides moisture.

3. Drop on the skin

For irritated and reddened skin, ordinary eye drops from the pharmacy provide relief, make-up artist Christina Vacirca knows. Place the vial in the refrigerator for ten minutes and then drizzle the liquid over the affected areas. The vaso-constrictors it contains remove redness in the eye by constricting the vessels - "and this also works on the skin", Christina knows.

Make up

4. Eyelash curling iron

For a great look, Anna Neugebauer , make-up artist from Berlin, has a hot tip: "Briefly heat up the eyelash curler with a hair dryer, let it cool for a few seconds and thus give the eyelashes the desired arc!" The effect is through the heat even bigger and lasts longer. But be careful: Let the pliers cool down sufficiently.

5. Remove make-up powder

Many women rely on a light powder to create a flawless but natural look. However, Christina Vacirca warns: “Powders can quickly become covered with make-up.” Liquid textures bond better to the skin, Christina promises. She particularly swears by cream blush for cheeks AND lips.

6. Fresh splashes

Rebecca Restrepo, global make-up artist at Elizabeth Arden in New York, loves thermal water: "I spray it on the face between lotion and make-up and let the water air dry." This supports moisture absorption, "the complexion looks radiantly fresh," promises Rebecca, "and the make-up looks very natural."

7. Ice (aj) old

If the kohl becomes crumbly, it can easily catch your eye. But Miriam Jack wouldn't throw it away right away: "Put it in the freezer for half an hour and it'll work like new."

Hair

8. Summer spray

A casual, slightly wavy beach look conjures up salty seasalt spray. Miriam Jacks reveals: “Mixing chamomile tea and lemon juice and adding it to your hair gives you great stability.” Great side effect of the house mix: “In the long term, the lemon gently brightens the hair.” How kissed by the sun!

9. Nocturnal oiling

In contrast to the way we have used argan oil and co. - that is, before or after shampooing - hairdresser Michael Manthei from Berlin advises the night shift: "Leave your hair oil on overnight and wash it thoroughly in the morning." The result: " Impressively soft, shiny hair! "

10. Styling weapon dry shampoo

The Express Freshener works preventively as a preservation for the hair dryer hairstyle: "Anyone who sprays dry shampoo on the roots before styling ensures madness", so the tip from Miriam Jacks. In addition, the spray is intended to prevent the often oily styling products from greasing the hair.
